What is the first thing you do when you wake up?
Check my phone, texts, emails, Instagram.
Have you ever felt genuine fulfillment? When?
I am really fortunate to feel fulfilled all the time. Traveling, being with friends and family, my job, new homes all make me feel extremely fulfilled. I think the times that I haven’t been fulfilled were really frustrating for me, and those were times when I knew I needed to change things up in my life.
What is your most repetitive, negative thought?
Will I ever find the right partner?
What is your most repetitive, positive thought?
I am really good to the people I love.
What is one thing that surprised you about adulthood?
How FUN being an adult is, minus all the f-ing bills and back pain LOL, but overall, I’m out here having a great time.
What are three things you want to put every woman onto?
As a single girl, I love going to a bar for dinner solo. Highly recommend.
Being a points whore is extremely rewarding. Airline status, credit card points, Rakuten.
Invest in your home. You will never regret spending money making your home a place that you love.
Rank the following from most to least important:
money, food, sex, love, and laughter (feel free to explain or don’t).
Laughter, love, money, sex, food.
How has your relationship with your parents/ guardians changed in adulthood?
I love my parents, we have a great relationship, and it’s also a very real relationship, they aren’t scared to give me their opinion, and I’m not scared to share mine.
When do you feel most like yourself?
With my best friends. They know me so well and the ease of being with them and being able to be 100% honest, 100% of the time is the best.
What is the best compliment someone has ever given you?
Complimenting my sense of humor is the way to my heart.
How do you feel about falling in love?
That I’d like to experience it with the right person, I am still seeking that real 50/50 relationship.
What is one thing you’re sick of hearing?
“You’re intimidating”. I have heard it from guys, at work, in school and I find it such a manipulative comment. If someone feels intimated by someone who is confident, isn’t that kind of a them problem? I don’t think that I should need to tamper myself down to make someone else feel better.
How often do you feel alone?
I go through a big roller coaster with this and have had times where I feel really alone and times where I felt like I needed to be alone more than anything. I think what I’ve learned is that usually, when I am feeling alone, it’s the result of feeling something else. I have had a lot of friends get married and have babies quickly in the last few years. Being single can make me feel alone sometimes, not because I want what they have but because it can make me feel less seen by them, and my friendships are changing. I have learned to have my fellow single gals on speed dial and just vent it out.
What is one thing you hope everyone experiences in their lifetime?
Travel, travel, travel. I cannot emphasize enough how refreshing it is to explore somewhere new and see how people live in different parts of the country or world. It helps you appreciate where you live or are from but can also open your eyes to things that you maybe never knew you wanted to experience.
What is one thing you hope no one has to experience in their lifetime?
Shitty girlfriends. I am so lucky that by 31, I have the most solid group of friends, but it can be a bit of a roller coaster through your 20s. No one has time or energy for the drama or chaos of girlfriends who are draining your tank rather than filling it, so if they aren’t adding value, you’ve gotta rethink the relationship. It took me a while to learn this, but once I did, phew…was it relieving!
What is the best decision you’ve ever made?
I spent a year nomad-ing and saying “yes” to everything. It was so fun and exciting. I got to spend so much time with people that I love and do so many fun things. It gave me so much clarity on what’s most important to me: my people, new places, and fun experiences.
When do you feel most at ease?
Sitting in a perfectly clean apartment. No laundry, no dishes, no errands to do. Also, I feel pretty at ease on an airplane (hot take). I LOVE traveling and sitting on a plane, having a glass of wine, watching a movie and getting excited about a trip, that’s pretty relaxing for me.
What does having a successful life mean to you?
I think about my funeral a lot, not in a morbid way just in a self-reflective way. I think about what people would say and who would be there and that is kind of my benchmark of a “successful” life, would I be happy with what was said and who was at my funeral?
How often do you think about your body?
Constantly. It sucks and I feel like it’s such an IYKYK thing. You either are in the camp that thinks about weight/body all the time or you just don’t get it.
When do you ask for help?
Pretty much never. It’s a terrible trait but #eldestdaughterprobs.
What is something you feel strongly about?
Women educating themselves (or seeking education) on finance/financial wellness. We know there is not a lot of education in school about finances so it’s on us to educate ourselves. Overall financial wellness, 401k’s, taxes, stock markets, and education savings are things that affect all of us daily. Don’t be afraid to ask a “dumb question”; just ask it!!
P.S. You come off smarter acknowledging what you don’t know rather than having no intellectual curiosity.
BONUS: Tell me something good.
Being happy in a new home is even more fulfilling than I ever imagined.
