What is the most important part of your daily routine?

I really don’t have a “routine,” but I try to walk my dog everyday. When I do, I feel much better.

What is your current happiness most dependent on?

Being with the love of my life. I know you’re not supposed to depend on your partner for happiness but there is nothing I love more than doing life with him.

What do you wish you were less reliant on?

My salary. I feel so tied to my job. I don’t love my career but I am too scared to lose my income to pursue something more fulfilling.

When do you question yourself?

At work. I have a lot of schooling/education but sometimes I feel like I have imposter syndrome.

What is something that has positively impacted how you perceive your self- worth?

I archived all my Instagram photos, and I feel so much better. I have always hated having my photo taken, and I would edit photos to make myself look better. Taking a break from posting has relieved the pressure of having to “get the perfect picture” and always being disappointed by my looks in the photos.

What is something you have forgiven yourself for?

Giving chances to the wrong people. I am a lover girl through and through. I used to beat myself up for letting people in who eventually did me wrong. I thought I was stupid for not being able to read people. I realized I was just trying to see the best in people, and that is not something to beat myself up for.

What is something you have forgiven someone else for?

Forgiveness used to come more easily to me. As I age, I feel I see people’s true intentions more and give them fewer free passes. I don’t necessarily think forgiveness is necessary, especially when someone has had total disregard for another human.

How do you ground/center yourself?

I fly fish. The water, the fish, and being outside brings me back to what is important.

What is one thing that helped you through your most difficult time?

My boyfriend. He has been my friend for years and helped me get out of a long- term abusive relationship. Without him, I don’t know how I would have been able to leave.

Have you ever felt like the best version of yourself? When?

Honestly, not yet. I am getting there. I am learning to love myself again after years of being taught to hate myself by my ex. I think I’ll get there, but it is definitely a moving target. Although, the older I get, the more sure of myself I feel.

What is something you fundamentally disagree with?

People who are not involved in their children’s lives.

What is something you know for sure?

I think if you are a good person, and you try your best to be kind, things will work out for you.

What are three of your non-negotiables in romantic relationships?

1. They must be a kind person, genuinely kind

2. We can laugh together

3. I feel at peace in their presence

When do you feel most comfortable in your own skin?

I am the most girly tomboy you would ever meet. Although I love dressing up, and going out to a nice restaurant in the city, I feel much better with a bare face, hair in a braid, doing something in the woods.

Have you ever been in awe of something/someone? When?

I am in awe of my partner every day. I have been since the day I met him 7 years ago. We just started dating last March, but I will always remember the first time I met him. Not only is he gorgeous, but maybe the nicest person I have ever met.

What is the best (physical/material) gift you have ever received?

My grandmother gave me a gold watch. I wear it every day and I love it.

What is one thing you wish you had said ‘yes’ to in the past?

Ski trips! I regret not learning to ski.

What is one thing you will always say ‘no’ to in the future?

I have no interest in taking a boat across the sea – terrifying.

What do you believe is your most attractive quality?

I love to have fun. I think my love of fun can be contagious, which is always a nice feeling!

What/who do you want to be when you grow up?

Honestly, I would love to be a stay-at-home mom if our finances would allow it. I do have a very domesticated side to me. I love having a nicely decorated home, cooking, baking, organizing, crafts, teaching, babies, you name it.

BONUS: Tell me something good.

I just sold my first house in the suburbs and bought a piece of land in a more rural area. I am so excited to build my new house.
