What is the most important part of your daily routine?

For my own sanity - quiet scrolling on my phone

For everyone else’s safety - coffee in the morning.

What is your current happiness most dependent on?

I’m at the age/stage in my life now where I realize my happiness isn’t dependent on anything. I choose to be happy. It’s a choice I make every day, and the things I do reflect that choice.

What do you wish you were less reliant on?

On a macro level, money. I hate that everything comes down to money. I work to make money to afford shit. Even just the basic shit - mortgage, gas, water.

When do you question yourself?

Very rarely.

What is something that has positively impacted how you perceive your self-worth?

Being in an abusive marriage. My first husband was emotionally and verbally abusive. When I finally had enough, I literally packed a few days’ worth of clothes in the car and left. I had to build back up from ground fucking zero. I can look back on that relationship and see that it helped me learn a lot about myself - namely, not letting anyone or anything dampen my sense of self-worth.

What is something you have forgiven yourself for?

Mistakes I’ve made as a parent.

What is something you have forgiven someone else for?

Breaking my heart.

How do you ground/center yourself?

I have a support system that keeps me humble but also celebrates my wins with me. When I'm feeling off-kilter, I reach out to any of them, and they bring me right back to earth.

What is one thing that helped you through your most difficult time?

Linkin Park - Meteora. I listened to that album (cd) on literal repeat for about 6 months of my life. Also, my bestie for the restie. That bitch knows all my dirty secrets and loves me anyway.

Have you ever felt like the best version of yourself? When?

Every day seems like it keeps getting better. I tell people all the time, being a woman in your 40’s is fucking amazing. I don’t have a single fuck to give about anything. And it’s completely liberating!

What is something you fundamentally disagree with?

Hatred and intolerance.

What is something you know for sure?

It’s really REALLY not that big of a deal. Whatever IT is…in the end, it doesn’t fucking matter.

What are three of your non-negotiables in romantic relationships?

  1. Laughter

  2. Sexual Chemistry

  3. Honesty

When do you feel most comfortable in your own skin?

When I’m surrounded by my people, belly-laughing and enjoying their company.

Have you ever been in awe of something/someone? When?

I try to find moments of awe every day! The beauty of the first snowfall, the warmth of my coffee in the morning, progress made by a client - awe doesn’t have to be something ginormous - it can be something simple, too.

What is the best (physical/material) gift you have ever received?

My first car. Christmas of 1992. I got a 2 door, light brown 1986 Chevy Chevette, and that was the coolest car. His name was Hubie - government name: Hubert Lewis Phillips.

What is one thing you wish you had said ‘yes’ to in the past?

I don’t regret anything in my past. It made me the person I am today, and that person is real fucking cool.

What is one thing you will always say ‘no’ to in the future?

I don’t have any particular desire to scuba dive. So probably that.

What do you believe is your most attractive quality?

I’m genuine. And hilarious.

What/who do you want to be when you grow up?

I’m afraid that ship has sailed, and I love who I am.

BONUS: Tell me something good.

I just got back from my first trip to San Francisco. I saw the Jelly Belly factory. And Alcatraz, San Quentin and the medical facility where Ed Kemper resides. SOOOOOO cool.
