What is the most important part of your daily routine?
Breathing. It does so much! It promotes mindfulness, helps circulate oxygen and blood while exercising, and regulates systems in our bodies. It is life!
What is your current happiness most dependent on?
My happiness depends on my level of comfort. To me, there's a balance between physical and mental comfort. Whether lounging under a cozy blanket or staying active and eating right, it's about feeling at ease in both body and mind.
What do you wish you were less reliant on?
I wish I were less reliant on my phone to entertain myself. I wish I could pick up a book or meditate for an hour, but sometimes, my mind goes a mile a minute.
When do you question yourself?
I question myself when I neglect myself. I can tell it shows when my place is a mess, when I eat takeout at midnight, or when I react negatively to my partner.
What is something that has positively impacted how you perceive your self-worth?
Taking care of myself. In my honest opinion, daily exercise, cleaning up my space (and sometimes diet), and drinking more water are the keys to improving self-worth. I don’t have a gym membership (lowkey a germaphobe), so I do bodyweight exercises at home, and I’m building up the courage to go jogging. I think cardio is a key I’m severely missing.
What is something you have forgiven yourself for?
I have forgiven myself for allowing myself to feel like a victim for so long. It’s so easy to say I’m sad/mad/upset and blame it on other people. That’s too easy. There’s no growth or accountability there. It’s up to me to feel content. After everything is said and done, I cannot change the past if I feel like a victim today. I would only be to blame for feeling negative or for carrying and repeating those stories for so long.
What is something you have forgiven someone else for?
I have forgiven people for hurting me. I understand the saying “hurt people, hurt people” more than ever these days.
How do you ground/center yourself?
I talk to my partner. He’s a Gemini with a Capricorn moon, so he is able to be objective and communicate his thoughts in many words. I get in my head a lot, so talking and writing really help to bring me back.
What is one thing that helped you through your most difficult time?
Words. I can only say to my mom and my partner, “I just need words.” My head can conjure up the most insane stories if I let it. I do need someone to intercept it at very difficult times, but I am better at cutting it out myself by imagining what they would say to me instead of fully asking them in the middle of a breakdown.
Have you ever felt like the best version of yourself? When?
When I am in the ocean or dancing in the dark. When work is leveled, and I’ve taken care of myself, I feel like I can happily travel and swim or go out and enjoy the night with friends.
What is something you fundamentally disagree with?
Lying to protect someone’s feelings.
What is something you know for sure?
The truth will set you free. You can write it in your journal if you think it might be too much to say or too much to receive.
What are three of your non-negotiables in romantic relationships?
1. Honesty
2. Laughter
3. Safety
When do you feel most comfortable in your own skin?
Talking about interests and ideas with loved ones, playing video games, and laughing with the ones who don’t talk much.
Have you ever been in awe of something/someone? When?
My mother when I think of the cards she was dealt. She carries herself so well and with so much love. She talks to everyone the same way she talks to me, with an open and nurturing heart. Also, the eclipse, that was amazing!
What is the best (physical/material) gift you have ever received?
I think any plushie from my brother. My latest one was a Stitch plushie from my brother because he thinks I’m outspoken and emotional like Lilo. He is so thoughtful and loving; sometimes, I know giving and receiving love is hard, so these plushies say it often and so well!
What is one thing you wish you had said ‘yes’ to in the past?
I wish I had said yes to my family more and spent more time with them. I had a lot of resentment towards many of them growing up. We have definitely grown up a lot since then.
What is one thing you will always say ‘no’ to in the future?
Scary mazes or haunted houses. I can’t keep lying to myself and the ones I love. I suggest going to a scary maze every other year because I love scary movies and spooking others for fun but when I’m physically in spaces meant to scare me, I cannot escape being frozen. I’m into spontaneous spooks, not organized ones.
What do you believe is your most attractive quality?
My energy; I am very curious.
What/who do you want to be when you grow up?
I want to be someone my 10-year-old self could look up to. I actually still don’t have any women I look up to as a 29-year-old woman. For example, my boyfriend loves and looks up to Michael Jordan. I don’t have that. I think the closest is maybe Keke Palmer because she’s so funny and out there. But this was also just realized maybe a week ago, so I don’t know if it’s true.
BONUS: Tell me something good.
Your mind is everything, and your words are everything. Tell yourself and others wonderful things to live a beautiful life.
