What is the most important part of your daily routine?
I love getting outside, whether that be to walk the dogs, hike, or just sit out on the patio. I work from home, so getting outside every day is essential.
What is your current happiness most dependent on?
My dogs make me so happy. Cuddling them and caring for them brings me so much joy on a daily basis.
What do you wish you were less reliant on?
I wish I were less reliant on societal expectations—get married, buy a house, have a kid by x timeframe. I’ve changed my way of thinking about this some. Funny enough, the older I get, the more I realize it’s all BS and the notion of “timelines” is just fear-mongering. But I really wish I worried about this less in my 20s.
When do you question yourself?
I question myself at work all the time. I have had to fake it till I make it in many ways, and the older I get, the more I realize that’s actually what we’re all doing at the end of the day. I’m also someone who likes to be in the know and feel confident all the time, but this job has led me to grow in ways where I’ve learned to ask for help and just accept that it's okay not to have all the answers.
What is something that has positively impacted how you perceive your self-worth?
Positive affirmations. Our thoughts often control our lives, and I always ask myself, “Would I think/say this to my friend?” The answer is often no. I try to structure my inner thoughts like speaking with a close friend.
What is something you have forgiven yourself for?
Hurting people when I was hurt. At the end of the day, we’re all doing life for the first time and are just doing our best.
What is something you have forgiven someone else for?
I’d like to think I’ve forgiven my parents for the tumultuous adolescence and unstable home life I had, and I’m actively working through this. I do believe that forgiveness is ongoing and something you continuously work on. I’m trying.
How do you ground/center yourself?
Truly through exercise. I’m no fitness junkie, but getting active helps me mentally so much as I’m a pretty anxious person. I also want to get more consistent with meditating/breathwork.
What is one thing that helped you through your most difficult time?
My female friendships, or “Girlhood,” have saved me in so many ways and consistently been such a light in my life. I’ve honestly often relied on them more than romantic relationships, and it’s been the best. There’s nothing like finding true solace and connection with your female friends.
Have you ever felt like the best version of yourself? When?
I feel like the best version of myself when I’m making something by hand, usually for a friend or family member. I love to give gifts, and it’s even more rewarding when they’re something I make.
What is something you fundamentally disagree with?
I disagree that eventually, you just “have your life together.” We’re all just stumbling along, figuring out life as it comes. It’s refreshing, honestly.
What is something you know for sure?
Women’s intuition is much more powerful than we give ourselves credit for. Tap into it and listen to it.
What are three of your non-negotiables in romantic relationships?
1. Communication
2. Trust/respect (go hand in hand)
3. Attraction
When do you feel most comfortable in your own skin?
Whenever I’m laughing with my loved ones. Preferably over wine.
Have you ever been in awe of something/someone? When?
I’m constantly in awe of people’s resilience and confidence in their ability to endure life. People who keep pushing on when they feel like doing everything but.
What is the best (physical/material) gift you have ever received?
My great-grandmother's gold bracelet was handed down to me at my wedding.
What is one thing you wish you had said ‘yes’ to in the past?
I wish I had traveled more before Covid hit and said yes to more spontaneous trips wherever and whenever, but I plan on changing that here soon.
What is one thing you will always say ‘no’ to in the future?
Lackluster friendships/relationships. Life is too short.
What do you believe is your most attractive quality?
My sense of humor, I try to make light of most situations.
What/who do you want to be when you grow up?
I want to be happy, next to the one I love, and with full access to the beach.
BONUS: Tell me something good.
(Most) People are inherently good and want to do good in the world.
