What is the most important part of your daily routine?
Honestly, taking my makeup off and having a hot shower. I feel like it ‘washes’ the day away!
What is your current happiness most dependent on?
Time with my boyfriend and family, our cat, moving my body, iced coffee, reading, and watching reality TV.
What do you wish you were less reliant on?
Social media and technology. Although I know that so many things online are “not real” or very edited, I compare myself SO much to others and constantly feel like I need to be skinnier, prettier, and dress better. It negatively impacts my confidence, yet I still expose myself to it daily.
When do you question yourself?
Very often. I question myself at work because I am so terrified of making a mistake or “getting in trouble.” I’ve questioned myself with a lot of other things in my personal life, like purchasing a new vehicle, moving to a new area, and starting a new job. I always go to my mom for advice when making these decisions.
What is something that has positively impacted how you perceive your self-worth?
My career. Some days are hard and long, especially working 12-hour shifts. But I know I am helping people in their hardest moments, which makes it worth it. Getting praise from my managers about calls I have taken and my compassion on the phone is a great feeling. This career has taught me how strong and resilient I can be and has tremendously impacted my self-worth in the best way.
What is something you have forgiven yourself for?
When I was younger, seeking comfort in partying/alcohol and attention from men.
What is something you have forgiven someone else for?
An ex-friend who treated me poorly when we had been drinking.
How do you ground/center yourself?
Through daily walks and going to hot Pilates once a week (it is an AMAZING workout, you feel like you’ve sweat all of the toxins out of your body).
What is one thing that helped you through your most difficult time?
My parents. They did a lot to help me when I was leaving a toxic relationship.
Have you ever felt like the best version of yourself? When?
I think I am the best version of myself now. I am in an amazing, loving relationship with the kindest man I’ve ever met. I have great relationships with my family and friends. I drink alcohol so much less than I used to and never party anymore. I love to read and have read 60 books this year already! I started therapy a few months ago for the first time, and so far, I’m enjoying it. I go for walks every day and go to Pilates classes every week.
I think I’m at that weird age in your 20s where you’re just trying to figure yourself out, but when I reflect on the last year, I’m proud of the changes I’ve made. I feel hopeful for the future.
What is something you fundamentally disagree with?
Anti-abortion laws in certain states.
What is something you know for sure?
That life is short, and tomorrow is never promised.
What are three of your non-negotiables in romantic relationships?
Humor - It is so important to be able to laugh and have fun with your partner. Life does not have to be so serious all the time!
Trust - I spent a lot of time in a relationship where there was no trust. We constantly went through each other’s phones, and I did not trust my partner when he would be out with friends, etc. It is NOT normal to do these things in a relationship!! Trust is necessary to build a foundation for a healthy relationship.
Communication/Vulnerability - As they say, communication is key. And it’s true. Talking with your partner about your problems, goals, and even your day at work is needed. Being vulnerable and opening up is so hard for me, but being able to share my insecurities, past traumas, etc, with my partner has brought us even closer.
When do you feel most comfortable in your own skin?
When I am outside in nature or around my partner, our cat, and our family.
Have you ever been in awe of something/someone? When?
My mom! She has gone through many health problems, surgeries, and cancer, and she is still such a positive person. She is the strongest woman, and I look up to her so much.
What is the best (physical/material) gift you have ever received?
I think it would be when my partner surprised me with a Fitbit watch. I had mentioned maybe getting one in the future, but I didn’t really have plans for it. A few days later, he told me that he had a surprise for me coming in the mail. He was so frickin’ cute about it and excited. The day it came, he watched me open the box and was smiling and waiting to see my reaction. It was such a sweet and thoughtful gift, and I use it daily.
What is one thing you wish you had said ‘yes’ to in the past?
Spending more time with my family when I was younger and still living with them. Now I live about two hours away, and I miss them!
What is one thing you will always say ‘no’ to in the future?
Honestly, anything I do not want to do. I used to always say yes to everything and worry that I would get FOMO, but I’m now realizing how nice it is to say no when you don’t want to do something.
What do you believe is your most attractive quality?
That’s a tough one. I would say my dependability.
What/who do you want to be when you grow up?
I want to be a mother one day. It is definitely my biggest goal in life. I’m proud of my career as well and excited to see where it takes me, but having a family of my own one day is my dream.
BONUS: Tell me something good.
I’ve been focusing on myself recently and improving my mental health. I’m feeling happy and excited for the future :)
