What is your first thought every morning?
Ugh...
What is something you do solely for you?
I love doing self-care, whether it be getting my nails done, a pedicure occasionally, or doing little things at home. It helps me feel more put together and pretty, even if I find it hard to be true. I never turn down a pick-me-up sweet treat either, especially after a hard day. I also absolutely love reading and taking pictures of memories and events.
What is something you dread?
That’s a loaded question - I dread just about everything. Future decisions, work, financial stability, relationships, chores… It’s hard not to dread the unknown. My anxiety causes me to dread life more than appreciate it, but I hope to work on that.
What is something you are looking forward to?
2025 is going to be a good year. I want to take back my health and happiness and create new habits to ensure an easier mindset. This year especially, I have developed some terrible habits with eating and exercise that I hope I can improve. I want to form healthier relationships with the people I care about and maybe even some new ones. Also, my heart horse is having her second baby, who I am so excited to meet!
When do you feel most accomplished?
When I do a good job at work. This industry and career is a 24/7 job, and being a part of these beautiful horses' careers and lives is super rewarding and makes me really happy. Also, when I clean my apartment… There’s something about a clean space that is very exciting, but wow, is it hard to do so.
What is something you regret investing in financially?
Fast food and take out! I am a terrible cook and have a terrible habit of going to buy my food instead of trying to make something. Not only is it super expensive, I usually waste food I buy at the store that I don’t end up eating because I don’t want to make it.
What is something you regret investing in emotionally?
People and my relationships with them. I am a hardcore people-pleaser and I spend a lot of time worrying about what others think of me and what I should do to impress them when they don’t give me a second thought. I always feel like I am everyone’s cheerleader, but no one shows up to support me. It can be very lonely.
What are three things you think are absolutely worth the investment?
(financially, emotionally, or time/energy-wise)
Your passions
A good therapist
Your education
When do you feel most creative?
When I am reading - I can just picture the story and characters in my head and create my own little world to escape too. I also love to draw but I am terrible at it.
How often do you compare yourself to others? When?
Everyday. There’s a voice inside my head 24/7 that is always comparing me to my peers. Whether it be on looks, career, or attitude, that voice is always nagging at me. It’s hard with social media these days; everyone is posting about their success and happiness, so doubting and questioning my own success can be tricky.
What is one thing you’d like to thank your past self for?
For developing a great work ethic. I thrive off of working hard and staying busy, and I pride myself on the hours and dedication I put into my job and career.
What is one thing you believe about your future self?
That I know my dreams will come true one way or another. I have worked too hard and dreamed for too long for it not to happen.
What is one thing you learned in childhood that you have now had to unlearn in adulthood?
Saying, “I’m Sorry,.” I feel like when you’re a kid, saying I’m Sorry is what adults want you to say whenever you mess up, but once you hit adulthood, it’s unacceptable and an excuse. How else am I supposed to feel remorse for a mistake or making someone mad? Is there a more appropriate adult version?
Have you ever felt pure joy? When?
When my heart horse had her first baby, I got to be there for the birth and for its first hours of life. My horse has gotten me through a couple of tough years just by being an emotional support and something to be responsible for, so seeing her first baby was super special. I also nicknamed the baby after my grandma, who was my best friend, so I feel like she’s smiling down at me every day I look at her.
What is something that would feel really good to get off your chest?
I really want to find someone to fall in love with. I read so many romance books that describe finding that one person you fall in love with so magical and unique, and I want to feel that. It’s just so hard and nerve-wracking to put myself out there; I don’t want to be rejected.
When do you feel most in your feminine energy?
When I do my makeup and put myself together for a social event, whether it be for work or a fun evening with friends. I like to feel pretty, and have my hair and makeup done.
What is one interaction that changed your life?
When I was told my grandma was hospitalized with COVID. I knew instantly she wasn’t going to make it. She was young, healthy, full of life, and my best friend, but I somehow knew she would be taken away from me. I never got to say goodbye and that grief is still with me. I think of her every day.
What is something you want to give up?
Alcohol - there is such pressure when you’re young that drinking is the way to meet people and have fun, but it has always made me feel mentally unwell during and after. I just don’t like feeling that way. I should really try the new non-alcoholic drinks in a social aspect one time.
What is something you want to take up?
I really want to get into running. I don’t think I will be fast by any means, but it seems like it's just a good mind break from the world and so good for your health. I’ve also gone indoor rock climbing and would love to return to that.
What do you believe is a universal truth?
No one knows what is going on in someone else’s mind. We cannot read minds, so we shouldn’t assume what or how someone is feeling or thinking and base how we act toward them on that assumption.
BONUS: Tell me something good.
I got a gym membership and hope to start taking some classes!
