#167. liberation, farm land & generational wealth

Age: 44

Relationship Status: Single and Celibate, because men are just not it.

Occupation: Parent Educator

Income: 50k+

Astrological Sign: Gemini

What is your first thought every morning?

Thank you Lord for another day.

What is something you do solely for you?

Garden. I have a small container garden, and it brings me so much joy.

What is something you dread?

Weekends. I’m a single mom with very little support, and weekends mean I’m alone with no help with my daughter. It is very overwhelming since we are both neurodivergent, and she’s an outside kid….we have no backyard. It is a lot.

What is something you are looking forward to?

I bought 3.19 acres of raw land Oct 2023. I am looking forward to creating my family farm with my dear friend, who is moving from California to go on this adventure with me.

When do you feel most accomplished?

When my house is clean.

What is something you regret investing in financially?

I regret investing in business coaching, business classes, business workshops, and business apps. I would’ve saved myself so much time and money by just embracing that I have ADHD and needed to do things differently than many entrepreneurs.

What is something you regret investing in emotionally?

Romantic relationships with men.

What are three things you think are absolutely worth the investment?

(financially, emotionally, or time/energy-wise)

  1. A good mattress because sleep is healing.

  2. Platonic relationships with my girlfriends, who have loved, protected, and cared for me better than any man ever has.

  3. Land because, generational wealth.

When do you feel most creative?

At night, after smoking on the devil’s lettuce.

How often do you compare yourself to others? When?

I don’t compare myself to others often, but when I do, it’s because they’re receiving awards or recognition for things I’ve done, and I don’t understand why I’m not included.

What is one thing you’d like to thank your past self for?

Making the decision to start my first business. I have been able to live the life I’ve dreamed of because I decided to take the risk.

What is one thing you believe about your future self?

I will be a community fixture who helps people learn how to be in community with one another.

What is one thing you learned in childhood that you have now had to unlearn in adulthood?

How to think before I react emotionally. When you're raised with an angry, impulsive parent, despite how hard you try, you possess some of those characteristics.

Have you ever felt pure joy? When?

In 2015, I went on a 7-day cruise with my best friends and lost track of what day it was, completely unplugged and in the moment. I felt joy, but mostly, peace.

What is something that would feel really good to get off your chest?

Mothering is something that requires so much of your time and energy that if it isn’t something you absolutely want to do, you shouldn’t do it.

When do you feel most in your feminine energy?

I don’t really know what this means. I guess I stopped caring about femininity when I started decentering men.

What is one interaction that changed your life?

The day I saw my daughter’s father at a jazz festival. I would never have guessed that interaction would create the life I have now.

What is something you want to give up?

Social media. It has changed my life for the good, but also takes up so much of my time.

What is something you want to take up?

Sewing. I’d love to learn to sew clothes for my daughter and me.

What do you believe is a universal truth?

That the liberation of children from oppressive parenting is the catalyst for all liberation movements.

BONUS: Tell me something good.

There’s something exhilarating and urgent about starting over at 44. I’m beginning this farming adventure with my friend, with more past than future, and it’s helping me prioritize what’s important in my life.
