What is your first thought every morning?
My daughter.
What is something you do solely for you?
Skincare in the morning and evenings while my 8-month-old is asleep.
What is something you dread?
Not being there for my daughter.
What is something you are looking forward to?
Seeing my daughter grow up and go through all the different stages of life.
When do you feel most accomplished?
I feel most accomplished being a mom, and whenever I have had a complex patient be successfully discharged back home after a long hospital admission.
What is something you regret investing in financially?
Fast fashion in my late teens and early 20s.
What is something you regret investing in emotionally?
People who did not care about me the way I cared about them.
My ex-husband. I ignored all the red flags and thought the more I poured into him, the better things would get.
What are three things you think are absolutely worth the investment?
(financially, emotionally, or time/energy-wise)
Wellbeing (mental and physical).
Holidays and experiences.
Leather shoes and bags.
When do you feel most creative?
I don’t think I am a creative person at all!
How often do you compare yourself to others? When?
I compare myself to other moms all the time. I try not to, but it’s really hard with social media.
What is one thing you’d like to thank your past self for?
Being forgiving and letting go of the past. Always looking forward to the future.
What is one thing you believe about your future self?
I will continue to see good in others.
What is one thing you learned in childhood that you have now had to unlearn in adulthood?
To always try and keep the peace, even if I am being wronged.
Have you ever felt pure joy? When?
Yes, everyone morning when I wake up to my daughter smiling at me.
What is something that would feel really good to get off your chest?
I had really bad intrusive thoughts shortly after my daughter's birth. I did not sleep for days on end as I was terrified something bad would happen to her. I used to stay awake to watch her breathing. This was also during the time my ex-husband asked me to move out (with a 2-week-old). I resent my ex-husband, and I feel that he has significantly contributed to my PPD and PPA.
When do you feel most in your feminine energy?
When I dress up, am looking cute and my friends tell me I look good!
What is one interaction that changed your life?
Discussing my difficult pregnancy (severe hyperemesis with multiple hospital admissions) and traumatic birth with my therapist. She pointed out to me that my ex-husband's behavior was not okay and that it was emotional abuse. I decided that day I would walk away.
What is something you want to give up?
Spending a lot of time scrolling social media.
What is something you want to take up?
I used to be an avid reader but have not been reading as much over the past few years. I would like to get back into it and maybe join a book club.
What do you believe is a universal truth?
You won’t always be treated the way you treat others. Sometimes shitty situations happen to good people, and good things happen to shitty people.
BONUS: Tell me something good.
Our best days are yet to come.
