What is your first thought every morning?
One day, I will find the energy to jump right out of bed…and then, I hit snooze on my phone for 30 minutes.
What is something you do solely for you?
Read.
I love reading; it takes me to another universe where I forget all my problems and just laugh, cry, or yell at the characters and their journey.
What is something you dread?
My mother & anything to do with her. Our relationship is irreconcilable at this point. There is so much trauma there on both ends - a lack of understanding and accountability. I say anything to do with her because I hate when my family brings her up to try and guilt trip me into having a relationship with her simply because she is my mother.
What is something you are looking forward to?
Finding a love that feels like home.
When do you feel most accomplished?
When I sit down on my couch with a cup of hot chocolate and feel utter peace in my apartment. It seems simple, but growing up in a toxic environment, this was something I always craved.
What is something you regret investing in financially?
I don’t have a specific purchase per se, but I regret buying things impulsively in my past. It caused me a ton of credit card debt and headaches. It took a lot of work to get out of the habit of buying something simply because I wanted it, and I’m still working on that to this day.
What is something you regret investing in emotionally?
Men who gave me the bare minimum.
Since I was used to being neglected as a child, I felt I had to take whatever I could get because at least I was getting something.
What are three things you think are absolutely worth the investment?
(financially, emotionally, or time/energy-wise)
Pilates
Amazon Prime
401k
When do you feel most creative?
When I am writing. I am currently writing a fantasy book. I love to get lost in the characters, their story, and building their world. Hours will go by, and I will just be scratching the surface of what I want to write. I currently have 30,000 words!
How often do you compare yourself to others? When?
Probably every day, unfortunately! When I’m scrolling on the internet and see someone with the most beautiful body while I feel like a slob.
What is one thing you’d like to thank your past self for?
Never giving up. There have been times when I just have not wanted to be here, but younger me pushed forward.
What is one thing you believe about your future self?
I will let go of past experiences and be full of the unconditional love I so crave.
What is one thing you learned in childhood that you have now had to unlearn in adulthood?
The thought that, every time I express myself it will lead to the other person blowing up or giving me the silent treatment. I tend to apologize when I bring up anything that upsets me.
Have you ever felt pure joy? When?
Every time I go to a Beyoncé concert.
What is something that would feel really good to get off your chest?
To tell my father’s side of the family that I just don’t care to establish a deep relationship with them so they can stop trying. My father was very inconsistent in my life growing up, and they never made an effort to see me, so why the sudden urge now? I don’t want to be mean, though.
When do you feel most in your feminine energy?
When I freshly flat iron my hair, do my makeup to perfection…and take a million selfies.
What is one interaction that changed your life?
Oddly enough, responding to a DM from my “ex situationship.” I hate that word so much, oh my gosh. We had our ups and downs, but he picked me up when I was at the lowest point in my life and also taught me the importance of putting yourself first. There were many times when the situation did not serve me anymore, but I was so desperate to hold on to a connection that I would betray myself for crumbs.
What is something you want to give up?
Procrastination - it’s literally ruining my life.
What is something you want to take up?
Yoga! Hot yoga to be more specific.
What do you believe is a universal truth?
Life is not fair.
BONUS: Tell me something good.
I’m happy today. *
