#155. word flow, being wrong & a mother's love

Age: 29

Relationship Status: Taken, but single every other day.

Occupation: Accounts Payable Clerk

Income: 48k

Astrological Sign: Pisces

What is your first thought every morning?

Did my credit score go up again?

What is something you do solely for you?

Binge watch Sex and the City because why did I not know it was so good till now?

What is something you dread?

Seeing people who do not know my mother passed away.

What is something you are looking forward to?

My future, I’m working so hard now that I am almost more than positive it’s going to all be so great.

When do you feel most accomplished?

When my daughter tells me she loves me openly and with physical touch. I grew up in a non-affectionate household where we rarely said, “I love you,” and never really hugged.

What is something you regret investing in financially?

I do not have any financial regrets; if it made me happy once upon a time, then that’s good enough for me.

What is something you regret investing in emotionally?

My father. I know that it is very common, unfortunately, but I feel like I wasted a lot of time waiting for him to care about me or thinking about how he abandoned my siblings and me. My mother was there the whole way.

What are three things you think are absolutely worth the investment?

(financially, emotionally, or time/energy-wise)

  1. Mani/Pedis for sure

  2. A good coat

  3. Therapy

When do you feel most creative?

Honestly? I have not tapped into my creative side in a while, but mostly when I’m sad. I can write a good poem; the words flow so easily when they come from my heart.

How often do you compare yourself to others? When?

I would say not very often, but usually when I see people around my age. I usually compare my financial state or where I am in life with stability when I see people my age or even younger who seem to have all their ducks in a row.

What is one thing you’d like to thank your past self for?

For staying when things got really hard and I did not want to be here anymore.

What is one thing you believe about your future self?

I believe she will be so happy and healed because I am working so hard on myself now that my future me has got to be the happiest ever.

What is one thing you learned in childhood that you have now had to unlearn in adulthood?

Parents do mess up. I grew up in a household where my parents never said sorry. I make sure I tell my daughter how sorry I am when I am wrong. It’s so important to me that I never disregard her feelings.

Have you ever felt pure joy? When?

Yes!! The day I had my daughter. Very cliché I know, but I can’t think of a feeling better than when she was placed into my arms. It was truly love at first sight.

What is something that would feel really good to get off your chest?

I'm sorry to my ex. We dated for only three months before things got super serious because my mother passed away. We moved in together rather quickly, and things just got very messy between grief and never really taking the time to get to know one another. I was not the best version of myself; at times, I didn't know who I was, but I am very thankful for the time we spent together because he’s the only one who knows how truly broken I was... and still am.

When do you feel most in your feminine energy?

I would say when I’m in love. I’m naturally very masculine but when I am around the right male energy, I feel good. I’m so soft and giggly and princessy (I just made that word up I think). I love it.

What is one interaction that changed your life?

On my 11th birthday, my mother brought me along to hang out with her best friend, who I had yet to meet. She had a 9-year-old daughter, and we bonded over a flip phone my mom gave me to play with. Now, 18 years later, we’re best friends.

What is something you want to give up?

Not wanting to be alone, not just romantically. I always feel very sad when it’s just me. I start to cry and wonder what my purpose is. I want to be one of those people who actually enjoys being alone.

What is something you want to take up?

THE GYM! I keep saying I will enroll, but I never really get around to doing it.

What do you believe is a universal truth?

We all want a sense of belonging, whether to someone or something. We all crave connection and understanding.

BONUS: Tell me something good.

Today is Halloween, and it's 80 degrees outside; the girls can finally be slutty and not cold (LOL)!
