What is your first thought every morning?
Thank you, God - What time is it? - What’s the weather? - What am I going to put on?
What is something you do solely for you?
I go to the gym 4-5 times a week. It’s a non-negotiable. It is a release for me…I go after work, and I feel everything from the workday leave me as I’m completing a challenging workout. The community I’ve built at the gym also warms my heart and has become an extended family.
What is something you dread?
Losing someone close to me…I’ve already lost a parent and a grandmother. I am constantly worried about having to experience grief so up close again.
What is something you are looking forward to?
Falling in love and becoming a wife and creating a loving family with my partner. I look forward to the days of building a home with my husband. And watching him be a father to our children…I can’t wait to see my mom become a GiGi…prayerfully someday soon.
When do you feel most accomplished?
When a work event goes well, when I’m disciplined and follow through/ complete a fast, social media break or anything I deem “hard to do”.
What is something you regret investing in financially?
Designer bags… I buy them and don’t get the use I should out of them.
What is something you regret investing in emotionally?
People. I am a recovering people pleaser and working on boundaries. I put emotion into almost everything and everyone, and the people and things aren’t always deserving. Discernment is something I am working on. I lost so much of myself pouring into others. I made others happy while making myself sad.
What are three things you think are absolutely worth the investment?
(financially, emotionally, or time/energy-wise)
Therapy
Working out / my gym membership and trainer
Time with friends and family! (Memories are timeless)
When do you feel most creative?
Hmmm, when I try different DIY projects and at work (I do some event planning for families at schools).
How often do you compare yourself to others? When?
I find myself comparing myself to others more often than I’d like to now, as I approach 30. When I see others my age in relationships, getting married, and having children…I can’t help but think I missed my time…(I know comparison is the thief of joy…I’m working on it)
What is one thing you’d like to thank your past self for?
Committing to therapy. I was in therapy for 5 years – I faced my fear and did it anyway! I was vulnerable. I cried. I laughed. I healed and am continuing to. I am so proud of myself for that.
What is one thing you believe about your future self?
I believe my future self will look back at me now and be like “Girl, you knew life would work out for you” I believe my future self will be happy and proud of me for never giving up.
What is one thing you learned in childhood that you have now had to unlearn in adulthood?
That it is okay to trust the right people and that I don’t have to look for love, the love I was looking for was always inside of me.
Have you ever felt pure joy? When?
Me & my sister didn’t grow up together…but we reconnected about 7 years ago. More recently, we were just hanging out and I thought about the times I prayed to have the bond we do now…I am so happy to have my little sister in my life and for our bond.
What is something that would feel really good to get off your chest?
I’m scared of not living up to my own expectations.
When do you feel most in your feminine energy?
After a long day, lighting a candle, taking a nice long shower, completing a skin care/body moisturizing routine and putting on sexy pajamas!
What is one interaction that changed your life?
My first heartbreak at 23. If my ex at the time didn’t break up with me, I would have probably never started therapy and discovered so much about myself let alone do the work to unlearn a lot of unhealthy habits.
What is something you want to give up?
Negative thoughts and second guessing myself. I want to trust myself to not ask for second thoughts or opinions all the time.
What is something you want to take up?
Reading for leisure again.
What do you believe is a universal truth?
I believe that when you do good, good returns to you. Karma exists in the positive and negative.
BONUS: Tell me something good.
I am a hoarder :( BUT I just gave away a closet full of clothes!
