What is your first thought every morning?
What is the time, and can I sleep for 20 more minutes? I work the night shift, so on my days off, I sleep in biiggg time.
What is something you do solely for you?
Rating movies on Letterboxd! It’s my little me moment. I have only like two followers and have steadily kept up with it for over a year now. I’m such a lover of movies and I love having a place where I can keep track of it all and even the dates. It shows where I was at the time and even my mood. It's probably my favorite app these days (lol)
What is something you dread?
Laundry, it’s just one of those things that seems never-ending.
What is something you are looking forward to?
Living on my own. I spent the last two years really putting effort into romantic relationships, and now I want to just focus my energy on myself.
When do you feel most accomplished?
When I’m there for my friends and family when they need it, even when they don’t ask.
What is something you regret investing in financially?
My bedroom furniture was my first big splurge at 22, and I swore I would use it forever. Pier 1, the Hayworth collection (IYKYK).
What is something you regret investing in emotionally?
My previous relationship.
What are three things you think are absolutely worth the investment?
(financially, emotionally, or time/energy-wise)
1. Delta AMEX, I’ve earned so many miles/companion flights and earlier this year cashed them all in for an all-inclusive for my best friend and me to Cancun last minute, and it was the best trip.
2. Female friendship: when I struggle with dating, they remind me that I am not hard to love because they already have so much love for me.
3. Plan the outing, host the dinner, and throw a themed party. I host Friendsgiving every year, and it’s my favorite time. Having everyone bring a dish and all just lounge on my couch all night chatting and playing games.
When do you feel most creative?
Party planning, either a bachelorette/wedding/birthday, you give me a theme, and I am all over it on decor/food/attire.
How often do you compare yourself to others? When?
Lately, more often than I would like. All of my friends are married and some already have kids or are beginning to start. They all have homes and are settled into their lives, it's easy to feel behind sometimes.
What is one thing you’d like to thank your past self for?
For always loving wholeheartedly no matter the outcome
What is one thing you believe about your future self?
That the life I have always envisioned for myself does exist; it’s just not here yet.
What is one thing you learned in childhood that you have now had to unlearn in adulthood?
That my parents are maybe not as perfect as they portrayed themselves to be. Sometimes I’ve gotta remember they are living life for the first time too.
Have you ever felt pure joy? When?
I had this blissful period in my life this year for the first time in a very long time, it lasted about four months.
There are moments of joy, though: traveling, going out with friends, and every time I’m on Mackinac Island.
What is something that would feel really good to get off your chest?
That my current breakup is affecting me more than anyone ever has. This person was someone I envisioned my life with, and I felt blindsided when it ended abruptly. I’m very sad - probably depressed for the first time - but also very angry.
When do you feel most in your feminine energy?
Getting glammed up and going out with my girlfriends.
What is one interaction that changed your life?
When I was 25, I went on a date with a guy. We were having drinks at the bar together and also were conversing with the bartender. After, my date said to me, “You listen to people with such intent and care about what they have to say.” I felt very seen in that moment, and it felt good to have it recognized by a total stranger.
What is something you want to give up?
Currently? Dating; I’ll get back out there eventually.
What is something you want to take up?
A sport. I played some tennis and golf this summer and am interested in playing more.
What do you believe is a universal truth?
True love, platonic or romantic, is unconditional.
BONUS: Tell me something good.
I’m looking at my 10th house today, and it’s the first one I’ve been excited about!
