What is your first thought every morning?

1. I freaking love my house and my bed.

2. Where is my dog?

3. Am I late for my workout?

What is something you do solely for you?

Go to the movie theater. I have been going to the movies roughly twice a month since I was a kid with my family, and have continued the tradition throughout adulthood. I always feel most present there.

What is something you dread?

Having tough conversations with loved ones. As I age, I get better at confrontation, but it always makes me very emotional.

What is something you are looking forward to?

Having kids.

When do you feel most accomplished?

Whenever I solve a hard problem at work or receive praise from senior leadership. Also, when my house is clean and when I finish a challenging workout.

What is something you regret investing in financially?

Buying a luxury car instead of something more practical. I love my car, but the maintenance costs are unreal!

What is something you regret investing in emotionally?

I put everything into my female friendships throughout my twenties and went out of my way to make people happy, be supportive, and always show up. It broke my heart when that energy was not reciprocated, and I’ve stopped trying with a couple of friends who I thought would be in my life forever.

What are three things you think are absolutely worth the investment?

(financially, emotionally, or time/energy-wise)

  1.  finding a fitness routine I love and can do consistently

  2.  spending time with my dog

  3.  facials

When do you feel most creative?

Usually, when I’m with friends, coming up with cool ideas for businesses, or when I’m sourcing a really thoughtful gift for a loved one. I have recently gotten into making my own wrapping paper and cards, and it’s so much fun!

How often do you compare yourself to others? When?

Sometimes, when I’m on LinkedIn and see someone younger than me absolutely crushing it, with a higher title, at a bigger company. It’s more awe than comparison…comparison truly is the thief of joy!

What is one thing you’d like to thank your past self for?

Being so diligent about saving money for the future. I would not have been able to purchase a home when I did if it weren’t for my saving habits.

What is one thing you believe about your future self?

That I will be a really great mom and have yet to meet so many amazing people in this lifetime.

What is one thing you learned in childhood that you have now had to unlearn in adulthood?

The flip side of saving money for the future- I cringe when I think about how cheap I was in my teens and twenties. That’s something that has shifted in the past several years since meeting my husband and noticing how generous he is without expecting anything in return. I strive to be more like that every day!

Have you ever felt pure joy? When?

Picking up my puppy to bring her home, she fell asleep on my lap during the car ride and I thought my heart would burst. Seeing her learn new tricks and the joy she has when we go on walks or to the dog park is the absolute best!

What is something that would feel really good to get off your chest?

I don’t know if I will ever have a truly positive relationship with my mother-in-law, and I don’t know how much l want her around my future kids.

When do you feel most in your feminine energy?

When I get dressed up to meet my friends for brunch or dinner in the city. There’s nothing like putting together a fun, trendy outfit for your girls!

What is one interaction that changed your life?

Approaching my husband at a bar. Who knew it would lead to love, marriage, etc.?! We’ve been together for over seven years.

What is something you want to give up?

I go back and forth all the time about giving up alcohol permanently. I’ve had a few hangovers in my thirties that have caused me to not show up to important events and feel like absolute crap for an entire day(ish).

What is something you want to take up?

Creative writing! I love storytelling and while marketing sometimes scratches that itch, I really would love to write a novel at some point in my life. I am constantly admiring the writing of so many authors and dreaming of writing as a second career.

What do you believe is a universal truth?

Black-and-white thinking will get you nowhere. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I’m tired of all the polarizing statements and labeling other people as “good” or “bad”. Life is in the grey.

BONUS: Tell me something good.

My neighbor writes a fun fact about animals every morning on a chalkboard in their front yard and has a basket filled with fruit from their garden for people to take. It makes me smile every single day.
