What is your first thought every morning?
I try to wake up, be grateful, and think of something positive so the day starts in a good way. It doesn’t always work, though.
What is something you do solely for you?
Exercise. The movement of my body is so important to me. I go to the gym at least 5 days a week. If I miss a few days, I feel like I’ll lose my mind.
What is something you dread?
Cooking and planning dinner every night. It’s so stressful, and my kids are sick of the repetitive questions and meals. I wish we could eat takeout every night!
What is something you are looking forward to?
I love watching my kids grow up. I am so so so sad to see them grow, but at the same time, it’s been the most rewarding thing to watch someone I created come into young adulthood. I look forward to watching them figure themselves out, and I hope they know their mom has their back no matter what.
When do you feel most accomplished?
After I help my kids finish their homework, math is hard.
What is something you regret investing in financially?
Credit cards- I was, and sometimes still am, financially irresponsible. The temporary joy of purchasing something has now become something I despise while paying off these debts.
What is something you regret investing in emotionally?
The inability to see people for what they are. People often show you who they are early on by how they move and treat you. I wish I didn’t try so hard to keep things that didn’t want or need to be kept.
What are three things you think are absolutely worth the investment?
(financially, emotionally, or time/energy-wise)
1. Exercise- movement is the best thing for your body and mind. Even just walking daily makes such a difference in your mood.
2. A good bra!
3. A true friend. Someone you can trust to wholeheartedly tell you when you're being delusional or join in on your delusion (LOL). Someone who allows you to be your truest self without judgment.
When do you feel most creative?
I like to take pictures, so I bought myself a really nice camera for my 30th birthday. Anytime I get to use that camera to capture something beautiful and freeze it forever, I feel creative.
How often do you compare yourself to others? When?
I used to…like A LOT. I don’t anymore though. I think comparing myself to something I’m not or may not ever be is draining me of my good energy. I try to conserve all my good energy for me.
What is one thing you’d like to thank your past self for?
For being strong and surviving. Life was not always kind to me. I struggle with anxiety and depression, and while I have mostly good days, those bad ones creep in from time to time. My younger self and I persevered together, and while I didn’t always love that girl, I do love her and am so grateful now.
What is one thing you believe about your future self?
We are always evolving, and life changes, but I know that whatever comes into my life, I am strong enough to conquer it.
What is one thing you learned in childhood that you have now had to unlearn in adulthood?
Being a people pleaser only kills yourself and your own happiness. I have always put myself last, as far back as I can remember. We don’t do that anymore. We unapologetically put ourselves first, no matter what.
Have you ever felt pure joy? When?
When I hear my kid's laughter, it's so healing and light. The sound of their laughter is like the happiest day ever.
What is something that would feel really good to get off your chest?
I wish I weren’t with my kids dad. I love him as a person and a co-parent. But as a partner, I often feel so lonely and like we have nothing in common other than the children we share. It's sad.
When do you feel most in your feminine energy?
When I’m in the gym surrounded by men and I lift heavy weights. I feel beautiful, strong, and empowered.
What is one interaction that changed your life?
I met my best friend in 1st grade, and we instantly became close. Inseparable really. We are still very close to this day, even though we live far from each other. She was safe; her family was safe. They loved me unconditionally.
What is something you want to give up?
Drinking an energy drink every day.
What is something you want to take up?
Pilates! It's so expensive, though.
What do you believe is a universal truth?
We are all on borrowed time. Live your life for you, and the only opinions that matter are the ones that matter.
BONUS: Tell me something good.
I’ve let so many things go that were heavy on my mind and in my heart, and I’m finally free!!
