What is your first thought every morning?
I usually ask myself if that was enough sleep, hahaha and see if I can remember any of my dreams.
What is something you do solely for you?
I aim to do little things that feel like a lot: making my own coffee or matcha every morning, an extensive skincare routine, making my bed.
What is something you dread?
Time. When things are moving too slowly or working out too quickly and not feeling prepared for it in the moment.
What is something you are looking forward to?
My brother will make his Broadway tour debut soon, so I can’t wait to see him live out his dream! One of my favorite things in the world is seeing the people I love get the happiness they’ve always deserved.
When do you feel most accomplished?
When I’ve checked off absolutely everything on my to-do list for the day
What is something you regret investing in financially?
I didn't enjoy most of the trendy furniture I bought for my first apartment on my own, and by the time I needed to renew my lease, I couldn’t even sell it for what it was worth. I now aim for furniture that’s timeless and/or purchased second-hand.
What is something you regret investing in emotionally?
Definitely all of the times that I was so mean to myself, especially when it came to my body and my appearance. I tried so hard to change how I looked when I was in high school and college, from my weight to makeup and wardrobe. I look back at pictures of myself during that time, and I don’t even see the “ugly” I thought I was back then. I wish I could give that gal a hug and tell her that she’s beautiful in every phase and season.
What are three things you think are absolutely worth the investment?
(financially, emotionally, or time/energy-wise)
1. Moving your body/working out, and not for aesthetic reasons, but for mental grounding and balance. I cannot tell you the wonders moving my body has done for my mental well-being, and I hope everyone can feel that clarity someday.
2. Therapy. Talking through every single thing that is on your mind with someone who can provide insight into how you’re feeling without judging you.
3. Travel, and if you can, travel alone. You will simultaneously learn so much about yourself and how there is more to the world than just you.
When do you feel most creative?
After a morning walk, when my mind has woken up.
How often do you compare yourself to others? When?
I used to do this every day (I’d subconsciously find something in someone to compare to), but it’s been one of my 2024 goals to find the discipline and grace not to. Thankfully, I don’t compare myself to others as much anymore. I’d say it happens once a month now, usually when I’m at an audition, and I can hear the person before me singing.
What is one thing you’d like to thank your past self for?
For moving on, even when it felt too hard to.
What is one thing you believe about your future self?
She will have everything she’s ever desired and better.
What is one thing you learned in childhood that you have now had to unlearn in adulthood?
A lack mindset or struggle mindset, especially with money. I’m a first-generation immigrant, so I saw how badly my parents struggled with money while making their way here. We grew up quite poor, so we were taught that the hardest work is what got us financially stable, and we had to save every penny. I often feel guilty now working a job that feels fun and doesn’t feel like work at all, like I don’t deserve the money I make because I’m not killing myself for it. So, I’ve had to unlearn that earning money has to be difficult and also unlearn that I have to save every bit of it without treating myself here and there. I’m still learning to allow myself to spend it on things I’ve always wanted.
Have you ever felt pure joy? When?
Thankfully, plenty of times. Most recently, spending a whole day with a best friend I haven’t seen IRL in a year (we’re long-distance besties).
What is something that would feel really good to get off your chest?
I don’t like gnocchi. Sue me
When do you feel most in your feminine energy?
After a long hot shower, adorned with all of my skincare and body care, the heat of the steam creating a red flush on my cheeks.
What is one interaction that changed your life?
Just the other day, I bumped into two ex-friends I hadn’t seen in years. Things didn’t end well between us (petty college drama). We ended up catching up and hugging. It was genuine, and there were no hard feelings. It healed something in me.
What is something you want to give up?
The past, and wishing I could change some things.
What is something you want to take up?
Lately, I’ve been looking into a hobby where I can create something! I’m trying to decide between sewing or knitting.
What do you believe is a universal truth?
What’s meant for you will never be taken away from you. If it’s meant to be in your life, you will always be redirected back to it—it will always circle back. And all you need to do is be you to receive it, nothing else.
BONUS: Tell me something good
I started saying, “I love life, and life loves me” every morning, and I kid you not, so many beautiful things have happened every day I’ve said it! Upgraded hotel suites, someone paying for my meal, little surprise gifts from friends and my love—try it!!
